Camping boxes have been around for what feels like forever. But they have one major problem: if you switch to a different vehicle class, the box doesn’t grow or shrink with it.
That’s about to change, because the modular experts at Boxio in Rostock now offer the brand-new BOXIO Rack alongside their practical Eurobox-format camping gadgets. It’s a very well-designed and modularly expandable furniture system made of lightweight wood for vans, buses, and vehicles of all sizes. It not only holds the items you need for camping, but also anything that fits into a Eurobox in the beer crate format of 40 x 30 x 28 centimeters. It also features an integrated table function and an optional sleeping solution for one or two people. The system can be used in any vehicle, assembled without tools, and adapted, expanded, or reconfigured at any time if it’s to be taken along in a different vehicle
. Furthermore, its components are so lightweight that a single person can easily load and unload them.
Boxio will present the Boxio Rack live to an interested audience for the first time at CMT 2026 in Stuttgart. Visitors can find Boxio in Hall 10 at Booth 10G71. Boxio will also be featured at the New Product Pitch in the CMT Press Center on January 16, 2026, starting at 4:45 p.m.

“Even though we’re called Boxio, we always think a little outside the box,” says David Bredt, one of Boxio’s founders. “What bothered us about standard camping boxes was that they aren’t flexible. When your needs change, you need a new box. We wanted to change that with our Boxio Rack. It’s designed like a modular building set—easy to mix and match and incredibly flexible in use.” This clever design makes the rack a versatile all-rounder. Three different widths form the basis for a number of possible combinations, making the camping box adaptable to a wide variety of needs. The range extends from station wagons to minivans and, of course, everything in between. Installation in the vehicle requires no tools at all and is therefore very simple. It is secured using standard tie-down straps attached to the vehicle’s existing eyelets.

Loading and unloading on your own
At Boxio, they’ve also identified another problem with conventional camping boxes: they’re very heavy. This means that two people are always needed to load or unload them. A deal-breaker for most solo campers. Thanks to its modular design, the parts of the Boxio Rack are so lightweight that a single person can easily carry and load them. “We didn’t want our rack to be as heavy as a washing machine,” David emphasizes. “That would not only be impractical, but also not a good idea from a sustainability perspective. The lighter the camping gear, the more environmentally friendly campers are on the road. And that’s really important to us.” It’s clear that the Boxio Rack can be ideally combined with other Boxio products, as it features compartments sized to fit standard Euroboxes. This way, a composting toilet, sink, or stove, as well as other camping gear, can be quickly and securely stowed in the designated compartments. Users decide for themselves where to store them,
thereby turning their rack into their very own personalized camping box. The contents are secured by flaps that, when opened, double as a table. The rack is locked with rotating wooden bolts. They hold everything inside securely in place and are also incredibly easy to use.

Where do you sleep when the Boxio Rack is on board? Of course, on the optionally available and very easy-to-unfold Boxio Bed, which, together with the foldable mattress called the Boxio Rack Sleep, becomes a cozy place to sleep, transforming your station wagon, van, or minibus into a flexible mini-camper. The Boxio Rack is available exclusively in the Boxio Shop at www.boxio.de. It costs between 349 and 2,744 euros and can be easily customized to your needs using the configurator. The product will be shipped starting in March 2026.
